Verda AI centre, Sundsvall (Almåsen)
Planned AI data centre in Sundsvall municipality. In February 2026 the municipality announced that the Finnish company Verda Cloud Oy is establishing an AI centre outside central Sundsvall, with Zoningpartners North AB leading preparations for construction start. The land is being zoned through the detailed plan for Vattjom 2:42 and Söderåsen 2:6 in Almåsen, about 42 hectares next to SCA's Töva timber terminal, aimed at power-intensive uses such as data centres. The municipal plan documents do not name Verda; SVT has linked the plan to Verda's AI centre. The urban planning committee handled the plan ahead of adoption on 21 October 2026, and the municipal council is expected to decide on 30 November 2026. No capacity in megawatts has been published.

According to SVT the committee proposed that the council adopt the plan; the minutes were not yet published on 23 October. Municipal executive committee 16 November and council 30 November 2026, according to SVT; the project page also gives 30 November for adoption.
Two 220 kV transmission lines and a 130 kV line run in a corridor south of the plan area, and a 130 kV regional line crosses it. E.ON Energidistribution withdrew its objections in the plan review on 9 October 2026 after an agreement on where a switchgear would be placed. No contracted capacity or connection date is published.
