Ockelbo

On 16 October 2026 Västra Gästriklands samhällsbyggnadsförvaltning granted a building permit for a data centre with offices, switchgear, a transformer station and other buildings on Vallhalla 1:125 (Fallåsvägen 51), about 2 kilometres west of Lingbo (case VGS-BYGG 2026-000365). A transformer-station permit on the same property followed on 23 October. The site lies in the Vallhalla industrial-area plan, in legal force since 9 July 2026.

The Vallhalla plan covers about 52 hectares for space-demanding, electricity-intensive industry such as data centres and server halls, with a maximum ridge height of 35 metres. According to the plan description, a plan agreement was signed with Hyperco Oy, Sverige filial, and a development agreement has been drawn up between the municipality and the developer. The property-consequence report says Hyperco has exclusivity to buy the property from Kopparfors AB to build a data hall.

The permit notices do not name the applicant or give a capacity. The plan description says Ellevio's Grönviken switching station is intended to supply the area and that Ellevio is planning two new 145 kV overhead lines between Grönviken and Ockelbo. The municipality wrote in May 2024 that the site is in bidding area SE2.

Questions for a concrete establishment

  • Are the permits appealed before they gain legal force?
  • When is a start notice issued?
  • What capacity has Ellevio agreed to supply from Grönviken, and when?
