Halmstad's community-development committee on 22 September 2026 backed a letter of intent with Kistinge Infrastruktur AB, a subsidiary of Therma Loop AB, on a data centre on the municipal property Fyllinge 20:432 in the Kistinge industrial area (case KS 2026/00451). At least 10 MW of connected power is required. The company has until 30 April 2027 to say whether it wants to buy the land.
The property is 13,531 square metres with a detailed plan for industrial use. It was earlier set aside for rail-freight companies and is, according to the officer's report, the last municipal plot for sale in the Kistinge industrial area. The municipality will not negotiate it with anyone else while the letter of intent applies.
Therma Loop AB already has a letter of intent with Halmstads Energi och Miljö AB (HEM) on delivering waste heat to the district-heating network. A HEM presentation mentions a first phase of 10 MW and just over 7 MW of heat for a small data centre at Fyllinge.
