Enköping

Enköping municipality has received an external request to establish a data centre on the municipal property Ullunda 8:1>2. On 30 September 2026 the planning, land and development committee started a development project for the site up to the adoption of a detailed plan. The developer pays the pre-study costs under a preliminary agreement. The developer is not named.

The site is farmed today and marked as a future housing area in the in-depth comprehensive plan for Enköping. The memo names postglacial clay and the national interest in farmland as risks. Detailed-plan work is expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2026 if a planning decision is granted.

On 20 October 2026 the chief executive of ENA Energi briefed the executive board on the agreement set-up with Conapto: a cooperation agreement and a delivery agreement, expected to be finished in early 2027. ENA Energi's interim report says the company is studying waste heat from a planned data hall in Enköping. Vattenfall, E.ON and Svenska kraftnät briefed the board the same day on grid capacity in the municipality and the region.
