Ellevio says it has signed grid connection agreements for about 400–500 MW of data centres

Grid company Ellevio said on 28 October 2026 that it has signed connection agreements for data centres totalling about 400–500 megawatts, and that Gävleborg accounts for the largest share of its active data-centre cases. The release names no customer, site or connection date.
The figure comes from a short press release in Ellevio's newsroom, published at 10:37 on 28 October 2026. According to Ellevio, the company has signed connection agreements for data centres of around 400–500 megawatts, with Gävleborg accounting for the largest part of its active data-centre cases.
The release refers to a survey by the trade publication Energy Loop, published on 26 October, in which Ellevio and the other large regional network companies, Vattenfall Eldistribution and E.ON, were sent the same questions about data-centre agreements, queues, locations and who pays for grid reinforcement. Only the figures in Ellevio's own release are used here.
The release gives a range, not an exact total. It does not say how the megawatts are split between counties, how many agreements there are, which data centres they cover or when the connections are to be energised. A signed connection agreement is also not the same as a facility in operation or power drawn today.
The figure measures something different from Svenska kraftnät's transmission queue, which counts applications for withdrawal from the national grid. The two cannot be added together or compared one-to-one. Ellevio's Gävleborg capacity page, covered here in September, shows indications and applications in the regional network, not signed data-centre agreements.
DataCenterSweden does not attach the figure to any project in the register. The Gävleborg county page has been updated with Ellevio's statement. A project link would need a release or a municipal document that names an agreement and a property.
Why it matters
It is an aggregate figure from Ellevio itself for signed data-centre connection agreements, not a queue estimate. It confirms that Gävleborg is the company's main data-centre area, but it cannot be tied to any project in the register.
What remains unknown
Which data centres hold the agreements, how the 400–500 MW is split by county and municipality, the number of agreements and the connection dates are not in the release.
