Svenska kraftnät queue table: 6,984 MW of data-center applications as of 1 September 2026

Svenska kraftnät’s connection-case page, accessed on 12 September 2026, publishes a table of requested transmission-network capacity as of 1 September 2026. Data centers appear as 6,984 MW of consumption applications still in the queue — before reservation and a preliminary notice. That is not reserved megawatts, not allocated import, and not a named Swedish hall.
Svenska kraftnät’s page on ongoing connection cases explains what the table measures. Requested capacity is the total applied effect in the transmission-network queue until the authority has reserved capacity and sent a preliminary notice. The table used here is dated 1 September 2026. It is a snapshot of applications, not a ledger of built halls.
In that snapshot, data centers are listed under electricity consumption at 6,984 MW. Industry is listed at 11,122 MW. Other consumption is listed at 5,630 MW. Energy storage appears on both sides of the table. Production rows include solar, onshore wind and other generation. Offshore wind is excluded because it has a separate process. The page’s totals for the same date are 20,456 MW of production applications and 25,992 MW of consumption applications.
The same page splits the overall requested volume into two process states: 15,563 MW where an investigation is under way, and 30,885 MW where an investigation has not started. Those bands describe the authority’s case handling. They do not name a customer, a municipality or a project in this register.
The useful reading is therefore negative as well as positive. The table confirms that data-center applications are a material share of the published consumption queue on that date. It does not say which applications will receive a preliminary notice, which will be referred to a regional or local network owner, or which will leave the queue. Svenska kraftnät’s February 2026 notice on 2025 reservations already warned that a preliminary notice is not the later allocation that arrives with a signed connection agreement.
A buyer who pastes 6,984 MW into a Swedish county brochure is inventing a geography the table does not publish. The page says more detailed breakdowns exist by bidding area and by county. Those pages are a different artefact. This article records only the national type table as of 1 September 2026. It does not assign any of the 6,984 MW to Horndal, Hamre, Falun, Kista or Staffanstorp.
Named projects in this register remain on their own rows. Google’s June 2026 Horndal groundbreaking, atNorth’s SWE02 and SWE04 notices, EcoDataCenter’s Mistral/Borlänge notice and Conapto’s CoreWeave agreement are operator or municipal events. None of those sources is a Svenska kraftnät queue position. The queue table does not become their missing grid cell.
What to ask next is document-specific. Has the network owner for the property issued a written inquiry reply, a reservation or a signed agreement? Is the counterpart the local owner, the regional owner or Svenska kraftnät? If someone quotes the 6,984 MW figure, which date and which definition — requested, reserved or allocated — are they using? Until those papers exist, the national table is context for the Swedish file, not a connection offer.
Why it matters
A national application total can look like spare Swedish megawatts. The 1 September 2026 table is useful only if requested, reserved and allocated stay on separate lines — and if no project name is written into a cell the authority left empty.
What remains unknown
The cited table does not name applicants, does not publish a reservation or allocation for any project in this register, and does not state how much of the 6,984 MW will be energised.
