Svenska kraftnät queue table: 7,326 MW of data-center applications as of 1 October 2026

Updated 12 October 2026: Svenska kraftnät’s 1 October snapshot lists 7,326 MW of data-center withdrawal applications in its transmission queue, 342 MW above the previous month’s table. These are requested megawatts before reservation and preliminary notice — not secured capacity, current consumption or spare power at a site.

Update — 12 October 2026. Svenska kraftnät’s connection-case page, reviewed by the authority on 7 October, now reports 7,326 MW of data-center applications in its snapshot as of 1 October. This article was first published on 12 September; that original publication date is retained. The new figure replaces the earlier 1 September snapshot as the latest data discussed here.

The reported data-center row is 342 MW higher than the 6,984 MW shown for 1 September, an increase of about 4.9%. The page does not explain the change case by case. It may reflect applications entering, changing or leaving the queue, or other classification changes; it does not establish 342 MW of new projects or new secured demand.

Svenska kraftnät defines requested capacity as the total applied power in its transmission-network queue up to the point when capacity is reserved and a preliminary notice is sent. The 7,326 MW is therefore an application-stage measure. It is not current electricity consumption, reserved capacity, a signed connection agreement, allocated import or a national pool of power available to new sites.

The same 1 October table lists 14,612 MW for industry and 1,687 MW for other electricity consumption, alongside 7,326 MW for data centers. These categories describe applications in the same queue; they do not say which cases will proceed or when. The total application figures and process-stage figures on the page cover multiple connection types, not data centers alone.

The table is national and does not name applicants or assign the data-center row to a county, municipality, electricity area or campus. A local or regional network owner’s written response remains the relevant evidence for a specific property. The national queue cannot fill a missing site-level grid answer.

For a Swedish site review, ask the responsible network owner what process stage the specific application has reached, whether any capacity has actually been reserved or allocated, which network level is involved, and what written conditions or network works remain. Keep those answers separate from the national application total.

Why it matters

The October snapshot records a higher national queue row, but it still measures applications before reservation and a preliminary notice. A site team needs a written, location-specific network answer; the national total cannot substitute for one.

What remains unknown

Svenska kraftnät’s table does not identify applicants, explain the month-to-month change, publish a data-center breakdown by site or state which applications will be reserved, allocated or energised.
