Fortum and EcoDataCenter publish a 10 MW Falun PPA; that is not a new IT-load row

On 22 June 2026 Fortum said it had signed a power-purchase agreement with EcoDataCenter for the Falun data center, where CoreWeave is establishing advanced compute. The contract covers 10 MW in bidding area SE3 between 2026 and 2030, with guarantees of origin from Dalälven hydropower. A PPA envelope is not commissioned IT load and is not added to the 41 MW annual-report sentence.
Fortum’s 22 June 2026 notice is the dated primary source used here. It says Fortum and EcoDataCenter have entered a power-purchase agreement for the Falun data center, where CoreWeave is establishing advanced compute capacity. The plant will be supplied with fossil-free electricity from Fortum’s Dalälven hydropower plants through local guarantees of origin. Those sentences record a procurement and counterparties event. They are not a construction start and not a new campus.
The 10 MW figure is a PPA size in SE3 for 2026–2030. The notice also says Fortum takes over physical electricity supply and balance responsibility for EcoDataCenter’s Falun operations. That is a supply-and-balancing role. It is not a Svenska kraftnät reservation, not an Ellevio or local-network connection agreement, and not a definition of occupied IT load. Do not add 10 MW to Falun’s 41 MW commissioned sentence, to the report’s later 65 MW expectation, or to the operator page’s 80 MW available-power wording.
CoreWeave’s presence is restated, not newly measured. The Fortum notice names CoreWeave as establishing advanced compute at Falun. That supports a customer-context reading of the earlier 28 August 2024 EcoDataCenter–CoreWeave partnership. It does not publish a GPU count, a rack total or a 2026 occupancy certificate. Keep the 2024 partnership, this 2026 PPA and the June 2026 Conapto occupancy notice on separate rows. Different landlords, different dates, different instruments.
Geography stays Dalarna and SE3. Fortum says it owns, co-owns and operates 39 hydropower plants along the Dalälven. EcoDataCenter’s chief executive is quoted on planning together with local producers. Those are regional energy-system sentences. They do not allocate spare Swedish import and they do not update Borlänge, Smedjebacken, Horndal or Stockholm.
A PPA also does not prove delivered heat. Falun’s heat relationship with Falu Energi & Vatten is a separate municipal-utility file. Guarantees of origin do not warm a radiator. If a diligence file needs both power matching and heat delivery, ask for both papers.
For a buyer the next questions are definitional. Is 10 MW the hall’s import, a residual slice, or a matched volume? Which legal entity is the offtaker? What sits beside the PPA: a network agreement, a commissioning record, a phase data sheet? If someone treats the PPA as “Falun is 10 MW,” they have replaced the annual report with a procurement headline.
DataCenterSweden records 22 June 2026 as a reported Falun PPA and supply-role event linked to the existing Falun project. It does not create a new megawatt observation in the IT-load cell. CoreWeave remains a named customer context, not a second campus.
Why it matters
A named hydropower PPA can sit in a Falun file without rewriting commissioned capacity. Ten megawatts of matched SE3 volume is not 10 MW of new IT load.
What remains unknown
The notice does not define the 10 MW electrical boundary, does not publish occupied IT load for CoreWeave, and does not restate Falun’s heat-delivery volume.
