Water and cooling approvals

Air, evaporative and liquid systems ask different things of a Swedish plot. Water availability is local. A cooling slide is not an abstraction licence and not proof that a municipal network can take heat. Ask for the water source, the annual and peak volumes, the discharge route and which investigation has been done on site.

General orientation. Assess the specific project separately. Applies to: Readers preparing a Swedish data-center development file. This is orientation, not a permit decision.

Three separations

GleSYS documented a 2020 start of heat delivery in Falkenberg. That is a delivery start, not a universal Swedish model.

  • Technical description versus legal permission.
  • Design water use versus measured use.
  • Heat-recovery pipework versus a heat-sale contract.
