Sundsvall and Timrå vote to proceed with a conditional Torsboda sale, not a commissioned Google hall

On 17 August 2026 the municipal councils in Sundsvall and Timrå approved a sale of Torsboda Industrial Park AB to DSC International AB, a Google-group company, if the buyback clause is renegotiated. A conditional share sale is not a megawatt reservation and not a heat contract.

Sundsvall Municipality’s 17 August 2026 notice is the dated council source used here. It says the councils in Sundsvall and Timrå decided to proceed with a sale of Torsboda Industrial Park AB to DSC International AB, a company in the Google group. Timrå’s own notice the same day says the vote was not unanimous. Torsboda Industrial Park’s 17 August 2026 note repeats the yes vote and the buyback condition. A council yes is not a closed share transfer.

The condition must stay a condition. Sundsvall says the sale is approved provided the buyback terms in the share-transfer agreement are clarified by renegotiation. Torsboda Industrial Park says how that clarification will be done is not yet decided. Before the share transfer, the municipalities and Google must also agree the Public Benefit Document that describes community commitments. That document is to be ready when the transaction completes. A political assignment list is not a signed offtake.

Later steps stay later steps. Torsboda Industrial Park says the municipalities’ decisions must gain legal force, Google must notify the Inspectorate of Strategic Products and receive clearance, Google must sign a supply contract with E.ON, and environmental and building permits must be obtained before establishment can start. Sundsvall lists remaining work on energy supply, environment and building permits. The same Sundsvall notice asks for clarifications on using residual heat. That is a negotiation instruction. It is not a district-heat contract.

Named neighbouring papers stay on their own files. Timrå’s Torsboda 1:2 plan amendment for a Trafikverket E4 interchange, Google Horndal, EcoDataCenter Falun and Svenska kraftnät’s reserved-connection tables are different instruments. This register has no Torsboda project row. The municipal and company pages used here do not print a megawatt figure. This article does not import a gigawatt from another newspaper.

The next update would need a later primary source that names a closed share transfer, a signed E.ON contract, a permit or a reserved offtake. Until then, Torsboda stays a land-company vote — not a commissioned Google hall.

Why it matters

A Google vote in two municipal councils is easy to file as a live Mid Sweden campus. The August papers are usable only if the buyback condition and the remaining E.ON, ISP and permit steps stay open.

What remains unknown

The cited pages do not print a megawatt, a closed share transfer, a signed E.ON supply contract, an ISP clearance or a residual-heat offtake agreement.
