Timrå’s Bandsjö planbesked is a 20-hectare start, not a named datacentre and not Torsboda

Timrå Municipality’s page, updated 17 June 2026, says the municipality has granted planbesked and a plan assignment for about 20 hectares west of Timrå’s industrial area, next to Bandsjö network station. A plan start is not a named hall.
Timrå Municipality’s news page, updated 17 June 2026, is the dated zoning source used here. It says the municipality has decided to grant planbesked and give a plan assignment for an area west of Timrå’s industrial area. The initiative comes from the private landowner, who applied for planbesked to test about 20 hectares of business land next to Bandsjö network station. A granted planbesked is not an adopted detailed plan.
The site sentence must stay a site sentence. The page says the area sits about three kilometres west of Timrå’s industrial area and has a strategic location close to important energy infrastructure, which gives good conditions for energy-intensive businesses. The municipal comprehensive plan already points the area out for business development and judges it suitable for larger, more land-hungry activities. Those are land-use sentences. They do not name a datacentre operator.
The battery sentence must stay a battery sentence. In parallel the municipality is also investigating a battery-storage establishment in the same area. The page writes the battery store as a separate project that can add robustness and security of supply and make the area more attractive for later establishments. A separate battery investigation is not a hall and not reserved transmission offtake.
Named neighbouring papers stay neighbouring papers. Torsboda’s Google KF sale, Timrå’s Torsboda plan amendment, Svenska kraftnät’s Nässe–Vattjom filing — whose later 1 September 2026 hub note mentions ground surveys including a branch to Bandsjö — and the reserved-connection tables stay on their own files. This article does not merge Bandsjö into Torsboda and does not import a reserved megawatt into a planbesked.
DataCenterSweden records 17 June 2026 as a Timrå Bandsjö planbesked and plan-assignment page. No project identifier is attached. The next update would need a later primary source that names an adopted detailed plan, a named operator or a reserved offtake. Until then, 20 hectares stays a plan start — not a named datacentre and not reserved Västernorrland hall capacity.
Why it matters
A Timrå energy-intensive land note next to Torsboda is easy to file as a second Midlanda campus. The June page is usable only if Bandsjö stays a planbesked — not Torsboda and not a named hall.
What remains unknown
The page does not name a datacentre operator, an adopted detailed plan, a reserved offtake or a commissioned battery store.
