Tierp’s Mehedeby planbesked is a 400-hectare yes to start planning, not an adopted campus

On 21 May 2025 Tierp Municipality said the community-planning committee had issued a positive planbesked for about 400 hectares at Mehedeby, near the E4, with datacentre as the stated purpose. A positive planbesked is not an adopted detailed plan and not reserved power.
Tierp Municipality’s 21 May 2025 notice is the dated zoning source used here. It says an international company is planning a large investment in the municipality. The community-planning committee has issued a positive planbesked on an application covering about 400 hectares. The stated purpose of the planned activity is a datacentre. The land sits next to Mehedeby near the E4. A positive planbesked is not an adopted detailed plan.
The applicant sentence must stay the applicant sentence printed on the page. Tierp names only an international company. This article does not add an operator name from another newspaper. The application is said to cover buildings and other surfaces such as roads. Those are planning-application sentences. They are not a hall envelope and not reserved megawatts.
The municipality’s next-role sentence stays a next-role sentence. The notice says work with the customer has run for a longer time and that many pieces have now fallen into place. The municipality’s role is now as authority handling the detailed-plan process, future building permits and other permits. Authority work is not a connection offer and not a construction start.
Named neighbouring papers stay on their own files. Sandviken’s Tuna zoning note, Ockelbo’s Vallhalla industrial zone, Hässleholm Nord and Evroc’s Arlandastad land notice are different municipalities and different dates. This register has no Mehedeby project row. A 400-hectare planbesked does not become those files.
DataCenterSweden records 21 May 2025 as a Tierp positive planbesked for a datacentre purpose at Mehedeby. No project identifier is attached. The next update would need a later primary source that names an adopted plan, a building permit, a reserved offtake or the applicant the municipal page left unnamed. Until then, Mehedeby stays a planbesked — not an adopted campus.
Why it matters
A 400-hectare datacentre planbesked by the E4 is easy to file as a live Uppsala-county campus. The May notice is usable only if the applicant stays unnamed on the municipal page and the yes stays a start-of-planning decision.
What remains unknown
The fetched notice does not name the applicant, an adopted detailed plan, a reserved offtake megawatt or a building permit.
