Vattjom–Njutånger’s February filing is a NordSyd pair, not reserved Midlanda hall power

Svenska kraftnät’s 5 February 2026 note says a concession application for two new 400 kV lines between Vattjom in Sundsvall and Njutånger in Hudiksvall has been filed. A filing is not reserved hall offtake and is not the Nässe–Vattjom paper.

Svenska kraftnät’s 5 February 2026 Vattjom–Njutånger note is the dated filing source used here. It says a network-concession application has been sent to the Energy Markets Inspectorate for two new 400 kV lines between the transmission stations at Vattjom in Sundsvall Municipality and Njutånger in Hudiksvall Municipality. The proposal replaces a 220 kV line and a 400 kV line that are reaching the end of their technical life. A replacement pair is not reserved offtake.

The geography sentence must stay a geography sentence. The printed facts say the stretch is about 100 kilometres and passes through Sundsvall, Nordanstig and Hudiksvall. New transmission stations are planned at both Vattjom and Njutånger. Where possible the new lines follow existing rights-of-way. Those are corridor facts. They are not a Midlanda or Sundsvall hall pin.

The NordSyd sentence must stay a NordSyd sentence. The note places the project in NordSyd, written as about 100 billion kronor to renew and strengthen the transmission network in central Sweden. When the whole of NordSyd is built out toward the end of the 2030s, transfer capacity between bidding areas 2 and 3 is estimated to rise from about 7,300 MW to about 10,500 MW. Those package figures stay package figures. They are not a reserved hall megawatt on this stretch. Inspectorate handling is expected in 2027. Construction is planned at the earliest in 2029, with the new lines in service in 2033.

This article does not merge Vattjom–Njutånger with Nässe–Vattjom, and it does not import a hall reservation into a February filing.

The next update would need a later primary source that names a granted concession, a construction start or a reserved offtake beside the corridor. Until then, the 100-kilometre pair stays a NordSyd filing — not reserved Midlanda hall capacity.

Why it matters

Two NordSyd filings that share the Vattjom name are easy to file as one Midlanda hall corridor. The February note is usable only if this pair stays Vattjom–Njutånger.

What remains unknown

The note does not print a granted concession, a reserved hall megawatt or a named Sundsvall datacentre applicant.
