Svenska kraftnät awards the Västerås package to Skanska

A 2 April 2026 press note puts the award at about 6.5 billion kronor. A printed 1,000 MW capability estimate is not reserved hall offtake.

Svenska kraftnät's 2 April 2026 press note is the dated source used here. It awards a strategic-partnering package — Affärspaket Västerås — to Skanska at about 6.5 billion kronor, of which about 3 billion is printed in Västmanland. A contractor award is not reserved hall offtake, and it is not legal force on every stretch in the package.

The same note prints about 25 Swedish miles of new lines, or about 39 miles counting double circuits, and demolition of about 33 miles. Those lengths stay printed lengths. They are not a campus site list.

An operator comment in the note, from Magnus Lindholm, says that after the Västmanland rebuild the possible power is about 1,000 MW, printed as roughly three times Västerås consumption. That sentence must stay a system-capability estimate. It is not a reserved data-centre megawatt.

This package paper is not the June government confirmations on Munga–Hamra and Bysingsberg–Munga, and not the August Munga station start. Those stay later neighbouring papers.

Why it matters

What remains unknown

How the printed 1,000 MW is split, and which stretches inside the package move first, is not in the 2 April note.
