Svenska kraftnät’s 1 July 2025 principles paper is a twelve-month timeline, not a reserved megawatt table

Svenska kraftnät’s principles and guidance for transmission connection, dated 1 July 2025, says a preliminary notice is normally issued within twelve months from the start of the study. Reservation sits at the pre-design agreement. That PDF is not the February 2026 reserved-connection total and not the March 2026 early-indication page.

If capacity is not available in the existing network or in planned reinforcements, a broader system analysis can delay that notice. Normally within twelve months is not a guaranteed calendar.

Two six-month clocks sit after the notices. After a preliminary notice the applicant has six months to sign the pre-design agreement; if not, the case ends and any reserved queue place falls. After a connection notice the connecting party has six months to sign the connection agreement, and a concession application for the connecting line is required. Reservation of capacity is the capacity reserved when the pre-design agreement is signed. A preliminary notice is not yet that reservation.

The study fee stays a fee. It has a fixed part of SEK 100,000 and, for 2025, a variable part of SEK 1,200 per megawatt. It is invoiced one month before the study is due to start, must be paid before the study begins, and is not credited against a later connection charge. A paid study fee is not reserved import.

The early-indication paragraph on the same PDF must stay on its own terms, and the dedicated March 2026 indication page stays on its own row. An indication can be given for needs up to 300 MW at least three years out, is normally answered within three months, and expires on the day of the reply. It is not a formal study and not a reservation. County, bidding-area and 2025 reserved-connection tables stay on their own dates.

Why it matters

A twelve-month TSO clock is easy to file as a reserved Swedish megawatt. The July PDF is usable only if reservation stays at the pre-design agreement and the March 2026 indication page stays on its own row.

What remains unknown

The PDF does not publish a 2025 reserved-megawatt total, a named applicant, or a later fee for a year after 2025.
