Stockholm’s Akalla page is a heat-and-lease site file, not Barings’ 30 MW

Stockholm’s living Akalla project page records tomträtt to atNorth on Akalla 4:8 and to Ellevio on Akalla 4:7, with both construction starts in 2026. A dated Ellevio answer on 13 March 2026 says capacity in this part of Stockholm is good. Heat recovery next to Akallaverket is not a metered offtake and not Vanda 3.

The City of Stockholm’s Akalla project page is the dated municipal site file used here. It sits inside Stockholm Data Parks, a cooperation between Stockholm Exergi, the city, Ellevio, Stokab and Stockholm Business Region. Land has been granted with tomträtt to atNorth for data halls on Akalla 4:8, between Vandagatan and Raseborgsgatan, and to Ellevio for a distribution station on Akalla 4:7 along Raseborgsgatan. The project is carried out within existing adopted plans. Tomträtt and an existing plan are not a commissioning.

The timetable sentences must stay the city’s. Both atNorth and Ellevio have their respective construction starts in 2026, with an estimated construction time of about two years. The page says atNorth has ongoing earthworks on Akalla 4:8, and that blasting runs from week 28 for about six to seven weeks. Week 28 is the city’s wording. This note does not convert that week into a calendar day the page did not print.

Heat and cooling stay split. Stockholm Exergi says the network around Akalla can take surplus heat, including because of proximity to the Akallaverket plant, especially in the colder part of the year. The same page answers that heat recovery does not reduce the need for cooling: surplus heat is used in the city’s energy system instead of being wasted, while the hall still needs powerful cooling. atNorth repeats that the Exergi cooperation feeds heat into the network and that the hall still needs cooling. Recovery is not a substitute for cooling, and it is not a 2026 megawatt-hour.

Neighbouring cells on the same page must not be merged. Ellevio’s answer dated 13 March 2026 says the capacity situation in Stockholm is good at present, that Svenska kraftnät is reinforcing the transmission network, and that this project has long been in Ellevio’s Stockholm planning. The same FAQ names Barings Core Fund buildings for industry and server halls on Vanda 3 at Esbogatan. Vanda 2 halls have been postponed, with a preliminary construction start no earlier than 2030. Vanda 3’s later 30 MW Ellevio sentence stays on its own July 2026 paper. atNorth’s January 2026 SWE02 announcement stays on its own row.

DataCenterSweden records 13 March 2026 as a dated Ellevio capacity answer on the city’s Akalla SWE02 file. The SWE02 project identifier is attached. The next update would need a later primary source that names a heat delivery, an energization or a completed hall. Until then, tomträtt, week-28 blasting and Akallaverket stay site sentences — not Barings’ 30 MW and not metered heat.

Why it matters

A living city page that names SWE02, Exergi, Ellevio and Vanda 3 is easy to file as one Stockholm heat-and-power cell. The March answer is usable only if Akalla 4:8 stays SWE02 and Vanda 3 stays a neighbour.

What remains unknown

The page does not publish a heat megawatt, a metered offtake, an energization date or a Stokab circuit count.
