Statnett’s Skaidi–Hammerfest halfway note is a construction count, not reserved Finnmark hall power

On 2 July 2026 Statnett said work on Skaidi–Hammerfest had reached 130 foundations, 79 towers and 6.4 kilometres of stringing. A halfway count is not reserved offtake in Finnmark.

Statnett’s 2 July 2026 Skaidi–Hammerfest notice is the dated construction source used here. It says the project is approaching halfway after a busy winter and spring, and that the line contractor Dalekovod is building foundations and towers while stringing is being placed in parallel. A halfway count is not reserved offtake.

The count sentence must stay a count sentence. The notice writes 130 foundations, 79 erected towers and 6.4 kilometres of conductors already strung. Work sits north of 70°N, with helicopter lifts as a daily part of the logistics. Those are progress facts. They are not a reserved megawatt and not a named hall tenant.

The station sentence must stay a station sentence. The two new stations Hyggevatn and Skaidi are written as being built with equipment that is one hundred percent free of SF6, including circuit breakers. GIS assembly at Skaidi is prepared to start after the summer. The printed target is to energise parts of the station between Skillemoen and Skaidi in late 2027, which would bring a 420 kV grid as far as Skaidi. A late-2027 energisation target is not a live Finnmark hall. GE Power Norway is named as the SF6-free supplier. That is a kit contract. It is not a campus agreement.

Why it matters

A Finnmark 420 kV halfway headline is easy to file as spare Arctic hall power. The July note is usable only if the count stays a count — not a reservation.

What remains unknown

The notice does not energise Skillemoen–Skaidi, commission Hyggevatn or Skaidi, or name a reserved consumption agreement beside the corridor.
