Statnett’s Langerud day is a Vestby switching station in service, not reserved Østlandet hall power

On 26 June 2026 Statnett said the new Langerud 420 kV outdoor switching station at Tegnebyholtet in Vestby had been put in service after one year and eight months of works. A commissioned switchyard is not reserved hall offtake toward Oslo.

It says the new switching station at Tegnebyholtet in Vestby Municipality has been put in service this week after works that started in autumn 2024 and ran for one year and eight months. A commissioned switchyard is not reserved offtake.

The plant sentence must stay a plant sentence. Langerud is written as a 420 kV outdoor switching station that replaces a 1984 gas-insulated switchgear at Tegneby. The new station sits about 700 metres from the existing plant and, for now, replaces only the switching gear. Work continues into 2027: lines are still to be brought into the new station and the old gas-insulated plant is to be demolished. Those are station facts. They are not a reserved megawatt.

The programme sentence must stay a programme sentence. The notice calls Langerud an important project in Statnett’s area plan for Oslo, Akershus and Østfold, and the first of four steps toward the future regional system. A later gathering of the Tegneby plants at Langerud is written as planning that is still in an early phase. An early-phase plan is not a second commissioned station.

The next update would need a later primary source that names the 2027 line-in works as complete, a reserved consumption agreement beside Langerud, or a later gathering of the Tegneby plants that is no longer only an early-phase plan. Until then, Langerud stays a commissioned switchyard — not reserved Østlandet hall capacity.

Why it matters

A new 420 kV Vestby station next to a later Oslo-area line headline is easy to file as spare hall power. The June note is usable only if the in-service day stays an in-service day — not a reservation.

What remains unknown

The notice does not finish the 2027 line-in works, reserve a consumption agreement beside Langerud or close the later gathering of the Tegneby plants.
