Pure DC launches SJK01 in Seinäjoki: 110 MW Phase 1 is leased IT, not a 550 MW live campus

On 14 July 2026 Pure Data Centres Group said Phase 1 of SJK01 in Seinäjoki is a fully leased 110 MW AI campus, with planning and power secured and the first-hall substation live. The wider site is described as able to scale to a 550 MW-plus campus subject to permissions and contracting. Leased is not energised. 550 MW-plus is not a Swedish hall.

Pure DC’s 14 July 2026 GlobeNewswire notice is the dated operator source used here. It announces Phase 1 as an investment of over €1.5 billion for a 110 MW AI campus in Seinäjoki, already fully leased, with the substation for the first data hall constructed and live and planning permissions and power requirements secured. Those are company claims about a named Finnish campus. They are not a commissioning certificate for 110 MW of IT load.

The scale-up sentence must keep its conditions. The same notice says the site is capable of scaling to a +€7.5 billion, 550 MW-plus campus for AI workloads, subject to the necessary permissions and contracting. The operator’s Finland page repeats 370 acres, access to 700 MVA of renewable power, repeatable 40 MW AI-ready modules, and halls that support both air and direct liquid cooling. 110 MW, 550 MW-plus and 700 MVA are different boundaries. Adding them invents a total neither page calculates.

Phase 1 leased is a commercial occupancy claim, not a heat-delivery row and not a named tenant in the cited operator papers. This register does not insert a hyperscaler name that those pages omit. Job figures of more than 1,500 construction roles in Phase 1 and over 3,000 across the wider development are company expectations.

SJK01 is a western-Finland campus. It does not become Cerebras/Compute Nordic’s Mikkeli notice, Nebius’s Lappeenranta factory, Google’s September 2026 Finland investment envelope or Fortum’s Loviisa PPA. Those papers stay on their own rows. A buyer who pastes 550 MW into a Dalarna or SE3 brochure is inventing a geography the Seinäjoki pages did not publish.

DataCenterSweden records 14 July 2026 as a Finnish AI-campus launch notice. No Swedish project identifier is attached. The next update would need a later primary source that names an energization, a heat offtaker or a tenant. Until then, 110 MW stays leased Phase-1 IT in the operator’s wording, and 550 MW-plus stays a conditional campus envelope.

Why it matters

A fully leased first phase is easy to read as a finished 550 MW campus. The July notice is usable only if 110 MW stays Phase-1 IT, 550 MW-plus stays conditional, and no Swedish cell inherits either figure.

What remains unknown

The cited pages do not name the Phase-1 tenant, do not publish an occupied-load reading or heat offtaker, and do not identify a Swedish site.
