Polar’s HER01 note is a Herøya site announcement, not a live Porsgrunn hall

On 12 May 2026 Polar Data Centers announced HER01 on Herøya Industrial Park in Porsgrunn, written as a 39,000-square-metre site ready for construction with an initial capacity in the region of 40 MW. A site announcement is not a commissioned hall.

Polar Data Centers’ 12 May 2026 Herøya note is the dated HER01 source used here. It announces an AI-ready data-center development on Herøya Industrial Park in Porsgrunn, about 130 kilometres from Oslo. A site announcement is not a commissioned hall.

The size sentence must stay a printed-design sentence. Polar writes a 39,000-square-metre site ready for construction and an initial capacity in the region of 40 MW, powered by renewable hydroelectric energy, with a targeted PUE of 1.12 and a Tier 3 design. Those are design figures. They are not a measured live load and not a named tenant list.

The readiness sentence must stay a readiness sentence. “Ready for construction” is a site-status claim. It is not a construction start on the ground and not first power.

The next update would need a later primary source that names a construction start on the ground, a commissioned hall or a reserved offtake that is not only the printed region-of-40-MW sentence. Until then, HER01 stays an announced industrial-park site — not a live Porsgrunn hall.

Why it matters

A 40 MW Herøya headline on an industrial-park site is easy to file as live Telemark hall power. The May note is usable only if the announcement stays an announcement — not a commissioned hall.

What remains unknown

The note does not name a tenant, start construction on the ground or say the region-of-40-MW hall is already live.
