Magnora’s Hämeenlinna grid paper is a connection agreement, not a commissioned hall

On 24 August 2026 Magnora ASA said Magnora Data Center ASA had signed a network connection agreement for its Hämeenlinna data-centre project near Helsinki, with connection scheduled for the first quarter of 2029. A signed connection date is not a live campus.

Magnora ASA’s 24 August 2026 notice is the dated connection source used here. It says Magnora Data Center ASA, in which Magnora ASA holds 52.7 percent of the shares, has entered into a network connection agreement for its Hämeenlinna data-centre project near Helsinki. Connection is scheduled for the first quarter of 2029, with a potentially faster process that could allow connection already in the second half of 2028. A scheduled connection is not a commissioned hall.

The heat-and-power sentence must stay a letter-of-intent sentence. Separately, Magnora Data Center ASA has signed a letter of intent with the local utility regarding district heating, backup power and additional electricity for the project. The same notice says that in less than eight months the company has secured an attractive project, a building permit, a firm grid-connection agreement and that letter of intent. A letter of intent is not a heat contract and not extra reserved megawatts.

The campus-size sentence must stay a campus-size sentence. The initial plan was to develop a 120 MW project on the site. The notice then says that, based on an analysis of the project and discussions with partners, the company has decided to develop a significantly larger project with a multi-site campus and more electricity over the next years after the initial phase. The page does not print a later megawatt figure. This article does not invent one.

The next update would need a later primary source that names a commissioned connection, a signed heat contract or a printed later campus megawatt. Until then, 120 MW stays the initial planned figure — not a live Finnish hall.

Why it matters

A Finnish campus with a printed connection quarter is easy to file as spare Helsinki-area hall power. The August notice is usable only if the agreement stays an agreement — not a live hall.

What remains unknown

The notice does not name the local utility, print a later campus megawatt, close a heat contract or say the 2028–2029 connection is already live.
