Lidköping’s Airon notice is a 20 MW factory plan, not reserved Skaraborg offtake

On 25 June 2025 Lidköping Municipality said the local company Airon plans a new 20,000 m² factory at Kartåsen and an expansion of its 2019 site, with a SEK 5 billion investment when fully built and 20 MW planned at the new factory. A municipal fact box is not a signed grid reservation.

Lidköping Municipality’s 25 June 2025 notice is the dated campus source used here. It says Airon plans a new two-storey factory of about 20,000 m² at Kartåsen and, in parallel, an expansion of the existing factory established in 2019. The two sites would sit in different parts of the town: the existing plant in north-west Lidköping and the new plant in north-east Kartåsen. A municipal notice is not a building permit.

The money and GPU sentences must stay phased sentences. The fact box says the total investment is estimated at SEK 5 billion when the plants are fully built, in stages over several years as the project develops and enters operation. Capacity is given as 10,000 GPUs in the new factory and 1,700 extra GPUs at the existing plant, with 30 new jobs. Planned power at the new factory is 20 MW. Planned is the municipality’s word. It is not a reserved offtake.

The energy sentences must stay design sentences. The notice says both plants would run on 100 percent renewable electricity and are designed to recover spill heat to the local district-heating network. Construction is intended to start in 2026 once the permit processes are finished. The next step named in the body is to apply for a building permit and other relevant permits. A design sentence about spill heat is not a signed heat contract.

Named neighbouring papers stay on their own files. Ellevio’s August 2026 Skaraborg snapshot, Vattenfall’s June 2026 capacity map and Vattenfall’s November 2025 Västra Götaland allocation notice are different operators and later dates. This 20 MW plan does not become those queue files. This register has no Airon project row.

DataCenterSweden records 25 June 2025 as a Lidköping municipal notice of an Airon factory plan. No project identifier is attached. The next update would need a later primary source that names a granted building permit, a reserved offtake or a signed heat agreement. Until then, 20 MW stays a planned factory figure — not reserved Skaraborg hall capacity.

Why it matters

A 20 MW AI-factory notice with spill-heat wording is easy to file as reserved power and a signed heat deal. The June municipal page is usable only if 20 MW stays planned and heat stays a design sentence.

What remains unknown

The fetched notice does not name a granted building permit, a reserved Ellevio or Vattenfall offtake or a signed district-heat contract.
