The May 2026 government paper pauses Konti-Skan Connect — it does not add hall megawatts

On 8 May 2026 Svenska kraftnät recorded the government’s decision to pause Konti-Skan Connect, the replacement for Konti-Skan 1 and 2 between Sweden and Jutland. A revised 2027–2029 investment plan must also leave out Aurora Line 2 and Fenno-Skan 3. A pause is not a commissioned interconnect and not a campus offtake.
Svenska kraftnät’s notice dated 8 May 2026 is the dated interconnect-pause source used here. It refers to the government’s decision to pause Konti-Skan Connect. The project is described as the replacement for the existing Konti-Skan 1 and 2 links, a Svenska kraftnät and Energinet joint, between Sweden and Jutland. A pause sentence is not a new cable in service.
The investment-plan assignment must stay an assignment. Government file KN2026/01027 instructs Svenska kraftnät to submit a revised investment plan for 2027–2029 that excludes Konti-Skan Connect, Aurora Line 2 and Fenno-Skan 3, no later than 31 July 2026. Exclusion from a three-year plan is not a statutory ban on a later project. It is not a megawatt added to a Swedish hall.
Aurora Line 2 and Fenno-Skan 3 stay conditional. The government paper says those two would need a socio-economic analysis if they are to re-enter the plan. Analysis is a later paper. This article does not treat the pause as a cancellation of Aurora Line 1, which is a different, already-energised file.
Named neighbouring interconnect papers stay on their own files. Svenska kraftnät’s November 2025 Aurora Line 1 energisation, the 2024 Hansa PowerBridge rejection and Cinia’s March 2025 C-Lion1 repair are different issuers, routes and years. A Konti-Skan pause does not become those rows.
DataCenterSweden records 8 May 2026 as a government pause of Konti-Skan Connect and a plan-exclusion instruction for Aurora Line 2 and Fenno-Skan 3. No project identifier is attached. The next update would need the revised plan, a restarted mandate or a later permit. Until then, the May paper stays a pause — not hall capacity in SE3 or SE4.
Why it matters
A paused Sweden–Jutland replacement next to Aurora Line 2 is easy to file as a siting constraint. The May papers are usable only as a plan pause — not as hall megawatts.
What remains unknown
Whether the 31 July 2026 revised plan was filed as instructed, and what it then contained, is a later paper. No hall offtake is attached to the pause on the sources used here.
