Helsinki’s Lahtisleden note is a development-reservation application, not a granted Henriksdal hall

On 22 April 2026 the City of Helsinki said a development reservation had been applied for to build a data centre on about 7.3 hectares at Henriksdal. An application and an opinion window are not a granted reservation and not a named operator.

The City of Helsinki’s 22 April 2026 Lahtisleden notice is the dated land source used here. It says a development reservation has been applied for to build a data centre at Henriksdal in Storskog, on a planning area of about 7.3 hectares between Fårtickevägen and Lahtisleden. A building of about 21–30 metres is planned. An application is not a granted reservation.

The plan sentence must stay a plan sentence. The project requires a change to the detailed plan. In Helsinki’s master plan the site is mainly shown as premises; land north of the site is shown as recreation and green space. Opinions are collected through 6 May 2026 and passed to the Urban Environment Committee. The reservation application is to be treated by that committee before summer 2026; the City Board’s business section then decides. Those are process facts. They are not a building permit and not a live hall.

The applicant sentence must stay an applicant sentence. The reservation has been applied for by Brunswick Real Estate Finland Oy, whose project company would coordinate delivery. The city writes that if the reservation is granted, later planning must name which actor will operate the data centre. Waste heat from machine halls is written as something that can also be used in low-emission district heat. That is a can-sentence. It is not a signed heat contract and not a named hall tenant.

The next update would need a later primary source that names a granted reservation, a detailed-plan change, an operator, or a signed heat agreement. Until then, the 7.3 hectares stay an application — not a granted Henriksdal hall.

Why it matters

A Helsinki data-centre headline on 7.3 hectares is easy to file as a live capital-region campus. The April note is usable only if the application stays an application — not a granted hall.

What remains unknown

The notice does not grant the reservation, change the detailed plan, name the operator or sign a heat contract.
