The June 2024 government paper rejects Hansa PowerBridge — it does not size SE4 halls

On 13 June 2024 the Swedish government rejected the permit application for Hansa PowerBridge, a planned direct-current link from southern Sweden to Germany. Svenska kraftnät closed the project on 3 July 2024 for lack of a concession. A rejection is not a hall megawatt in bidding zone SE4.

The Government Offices press notice on the rejection of a new electricity link to Germany, published 14 June 2024 after a 13 June decision, is the dated interconnect-refusal source used here. It says the government rejects the permit application for Hansa PowerBridge. The link is described as a planned connection between southern Sweden and Germany. A rejected application is not a cable in the water.

The reason must stay the reason on this paper. The notice points to German market design and bidding-zone arrangements as the basis for refusal. It says the decision is not a ban on a future interconnection. Not a ban is a reservation about later policy. It is not a new mandate and not a hall allocation in SE4.

Svenska kraftnät’s 3 July 2024 notice stays a close-out. It says the TSO is ending Hansa PowerBridge after the government’s rejection, because a concession is missing. Ending a project for lack of a concession is not Konti-Skan Connect and not Aurora Line 1. Those are later or earlier files.

Named neighbouring interconnect papers stay on their own files. The May 2026 Konti-Skan Connect pause, Aurora Line 1’s November 2025 energisation and Cinia’s 2025 C-Lion1 repair are different routes and years. A 2024 Hansa rejection does not become those rows.

The next update would need a later primary source that names a new application, a different German-market finding or a replacement corridor. Until then, the 2024 papers stay a rejected SE4–Germany link — not a hall siting number.

Why it matters

A rejected Skåne–Germany DC link is easy to file as a southern-Sweden siting constraint. The 2024 papers are usable only as a refused concession — not as SE4 hall megawatts.

What remains unknown

The notices do not quantify lost transfer in a single megawatt figure used here, and they do not name a datacentre consequence. A later replacement application is not on these papers.
