Hamina’s 12 May 2026 inauguration keeps 70–75% and 80% on two dated heat rows

CapMan said on 18 May 2026 that Haminan Energia’s heat-recovery facility, using heat from Google’s Hamina data centre, supplied first heat in the fourth quarter of 2025 and was inaugurated on 12 May 2026. Once fully operational it is expected to cover around 70–75% of Hamina’s district-heating needs, about 2,000 apartments. Google’s 20 May 2024 design paper said 80%. Those figures are not Horndal.
CapMan’s 18 May 2026 notice is the dated utility-ownership source used here. CapMan Infra completed its acquisition of Haminan Energia in October 2024. Construction of the heat-recovery pump then began, and first heat was supplied in the fourth quarter of 2025. The inauguration took place on 12 May 2026. First heat and inauguration are delivery-progress sentences for Hamina. They are not a Horndal offtake.
The 2026 volume sentence must keep its condition. Once fully operational, the facility will cover around 70–75% of Hamina’s district-heating energy needs, corresponding to around 2,000 residential apartments. Once fully operational, around and corresponding to are CapMan’s words. Apartments are not IT load. This article does not invent a megawatt or a megawatt-hour that the notice did not print.
Google’s 20 May 2024 blog is a design-year paper and must stay on that date. It called Hamina Google’s first offsite heat-recovery project. Haminan Energia said the recovered heat would represent 80% of the annual heat demand of the local district-heating network. Heat would be provided free of charge except a nominal annual fee of €1 plus VAT. Google also said the Hamina data center operated with carbon-free energy at 97%. Eighty percent in 2024 is not rewritten here as 70–75% in 2026. The two percentages are left unreconciled.
Named heat rows stay on their own papers. Google’s June 2026 Horndal readiness sentence, Helen and OnZero in Helsinki, GleSYS in Falkenberg, Conapto and Exergi, and CSC and Loiste in Kajaani are different issuers. Hamina’s apartments are not Horndal households. A later Google Finland envelope that restates an 80 percent Hamina design sentence stays on 9 September 2026.
DataCenterSweden records 12 May 2026 as a Finnish heat-recovery inauguration, with first heat in the fourth quarter of 2025. No Swedish project identifier is attached. The next update would need a later primary source that names a measured annual megawatt-hour or a new offtaker. Until then, 70–75% and 80% stay two dated rows.
Why it matters
A live Finnish heat inauguration is the easiest neighbour sentence to copy onto Horndal. The May file is usable only if 70–75% stays a 2026 fully-operational expectation and 80% stays a 2024 design claim.
What remains unknown
Neither notice publishes a measured annual megawatt-hour for 2025 or 2026, a thermal megawatt rating, or a Swedish offtaker.
