Fortum’s Harjavalta paper with Nscale is a site-development agreement, not a live Finnish hall

On 2 April 2026 Fortum said it had signed a site securing and development agreement with Nscale for a planned data centre in the Sievari industrial area in Harjavalta. A development agreement is not a commissioned hall, and the notice does not print a megawatt figure.

Fortum’s 2 April 2026 Harjavalta notice is the dated Nscale source used here. It says Nscale has announced interest in building a data centre in the Sievari industrial area, owned by the Town of Harjavalta, and that Fortum is supporting the project as site-development partner. A development role is not a commissioned hall.

The agreement sentence must stay an agreement sentence. Fortum has signed a site securing and development agreement with Nscale and will continue work started under a June 2024 planning-reservation agreement with the town. In parallel, Nscale and the town have begun a process toward a preliminary land sale of the Sievari site. Fortum’s role is written as support for project development, including grid-connection design and permitting. The notice says the agreement has no material impact on Fortum’s earnings. Those are process facts. They are not a live hall.

The megawatt sentence must stay an unprinted sentence. Fortum writes that the total power capacity of the planned data centre is to be determined during the next design and permitting phases. This article does not invent a megawatt figure.

The next update would need a later primary source that names a closed land sale, a printed megawatt figure, a reserved offtake or a commissioned hall. Until then, Sievari stays a development agreement — not a live Finnish campus.

Why it matters

A Finnish Nscale headline is easy to file as a second Nordic campus with a guessed megawatt figure. The April notice is usable only if the development agreement stays a development agreement — and the missing MW stays missing.

What remains unknown

The notice does not print a megawatt figure, close the land sale or say a hall is under construction or live.
