Fingrid’s Nuojuankangas–Seitenoikea page is a 2026 field-study window, not reserved Kainuu hall power

Fingrid’s Nuojuankangas–Seitenoikea page writes field work from autumn 2025 through autumn 2026 on an about 80-kilometre 400+110 kV stretch, with construction estimated in 2028–2030. A field year is not reserved offtake.

Fingrid’s Nuojuankangas–Seitenoikea project page is the dated field-study source used here. It writes a new line of about 80 kilometres between the Nuojuankangas substation in Vaala and a new substation to come in Ristijärvi or Hyrynsalmi, across Vaala, Puolanka, Paltamo, Ristijärvi and Hyrynsalmi. A new 400+110 kV line is written as being planned mainly beside the existing 200 kV line. EIA routes are written as about 113 kilometres, of which about 10 kilometres would be new corridor. An 80-kilometre planning page is not reserved hall offtake.

The purpose sentence must stay a purpose sentence. The page writes that current main-grid connections will not suffice to move all electricity imported from Sweden and produced in northern Finland to southern consumption points. The project is written as enabling wind-power construction and supporting Finland’s climate targets and sufficient electricity self-sufficiency. North–south transfer language is not a named hall.

The timetable sentence must stay a timetable sentence. Route stretches for further design were chosen in October 2024. Further design is written as field studies in 2026–2027 that set the finer route and pole locations, with landowners contacted in person. Construction is estimated in 2028–2030. Omexom is named for general design. Field work is written as running from autumn 2025 through autumn 2026. An autumn-2026 field close is not a construction start.

Until then, the 2026 field year stays a first-east Kainuu planning paper — not reserved Kainuu hall capacity.

Why it matters

An 80-kilometre Kainuu 400+110 kV headline is easy to file as spare hall power. The page is usable only if the 2026 field year stays a field year — not a reservation.

What remains unknown

The page does not finish 2027 design, start 2028–2030 construction or name a reserved hall offtake beside Nuojuankangas–Seitenoikea.
