Fingrid’s Huutokoski–Kontiolahti page is a 2026 EIA and landowner-letter window, not reserved North Karelia hall power

Fingrid’s Huutokoski–Kontiolahti page writes landowner letters in spring 2026 and an EIA programme finishing in October 2026, with a construction target during 2033. A letter-and-programme year is not reserved offtake.

Fingrid’s Huutokoski–Kontiolahti project page is the dated EIA-planning source used here. It writes a new 400+110 kV connection between Huutokoski and Kontiolahti. Routes under study sit in North Karelia, North Savo and South Savo, in Joroinen, Pieksämäki, Varkaus, Leppävirta, Heinävesi, Liperi, Joensuu and Kontiolahti. Routes in the EIA are written as 170 kilometres in all; the realised route is written as about 140 kilometres, of which about 14 kilometres would be new corridor. A 140-kilometre EIA page is not reserved hall offtake.

The purpose sentence must stay a purpose sentence. The page writes the connection as needed to keep the transmission-system security-of-supply requirement when transfers grow toward Finland’s 2035 carbon-neutrality target, and as the first 400 kV line into North Karelia. It writes that the line would make it possible to add consumption and generation on the grid in the Joensuu area and would improve voltage stability there. Joensuu-area transfer language is not a named hall.

The timetable sentence must stay a timetable sentence. Fingrid writes that it will decide on further design and construction after the 2026–2027 EIA. Field studies and general design needed for construction are written as 2028–2030. The aim is written as the line being ready during 2033. The statutory EIA programme is written as finishing in October 2026, and the EIA report as expected late 2027. Property owners next to the planned line are written as being contacted by letter during spring 2026. A spring letter is not a construction start.
