EEM’s 4 June 2026 SDC paper is a 25-year heat contract, not a 2026 megawatt-hour

On 4 June 2026 Eskilstuna Energi och Miljö and Scandinavian Data Centers said they had signed a 25-year residual-heat agreement for the new data centre in Eskilstuna. In the longer term the cooperation enables recovery of up to 10 MW of heat. A contract is not metered 2026 heat and not Horndal.

Eskilstuna Energi och Miljö’s 4 June 2026 notice is the dated heat-contract source used here. It says EEM and Scandinavian Data Centers have signed a 25-year agreement on residual-heat recovery from the new data centre in Eskilstuna. The cooperation enables, in the longer term, recovery of up to 10 MW of heat. Up to and in the longer term are the issuers’ words. They are not a 2026 delivered megawatt-hour.

The hall sentence stays a construction sentence. The data centre is being built in a rock-cavern facility. Construction is under way and the first phase is expected to be ready at the end of 2026. Residual-heat delivery starts when the facility has occupancy that generates enough heat for the district-heating network. Expected and when occupancy generates enough heat are not a metered offtake.

Ten megawatts of heat must not be rewritten as IT import. The notice describes recovered heat into the local district-heating system and a more flexible heat mix. It does not publish an IT load, a grid agreement or a 2026 heat volume. This article will not invent those figures.

Named Swedish heat rows stay on their own papers. Conapto’s Exergi arrangement, GlobalConnect’s southern Stockholm heat sentence, Glesys Falkenberg and Google Horndal’s readiness wording are different issuers and sites. Twenty-five years in Eskilstuna does not become those files.

DataCenterSweden records 4 June 2026 as an Eskilstuna residual-heat contract. No project identifier is attached. The next update would need a later primary source that names a first delivery, a measured megawatt-hour or a commissioning. Until then, 10 MW stays an on-sikt heat ceiling beside a first phase expected at the end of 2026.

Why it matters

A 25-year heat headline with a 10 MW ceiling is easy to file as live 2026 district heat. The June notice is usable only if 10 MW stays an on-sikt recovery ceiling — not a metered year and not Horndal.

What remains unknown

The notice does not publish a 2026 heat volume, an IT megawatt, a grid agreement or a first-delivery date.
