E.ON’s Kapacitetskompass is an open grid map, not reserved campus megawatts

On 17 June 2025 E.ON said it had launched Kapacitetskompassen, an open map of capacity, cases above 200 kW and planned investments, with A–C levels for today and ten years ahead. A map class is not a reserved offtake.

E.ON’s 17 June 2025 notice is the dated map source used here. It says Kapacitetskompassen is an open digital map of the capacity situation, ongoing connection cases and planned grid investments. The tool is aimed at authorities, companies, municipalities and other parties facing new establishments or electricity-intensive projects. An open map is not a reservation letter.

The A–C sentence must stay an A–C sentence. Users can see a judgement of the network’s ability to meet demand today and ten years ahead. Three capacity levels, A to C, show how good the conditions are for connecting electricity-intensive activity. The map also shows larger connection requests above 200 kW, updated on an ongoing basis, and planned investments and flexibility intended to ease bottlenecks. Those are planning layers. They are not allocated campus megawatts.

The complement sentence must stay a complement sentence. E.ON says the compass complements the company’s network-development plan. Peter Sigenstam, head of operations and energy systems at E.ON Energidistribution, presents it as a transparency tool for planning departments and as a way to show what E.ON intends to build. The same notice says E.ON is investing 27 billion kronor in the Swedish grid between 2024 and 2027. An investment-programme sentence is not a named hall agreement.

Named neighbouring papers stay on their own files. Vattenfall’s June 2026 capacity map, Vattenfall’s regional-network guidance, Ellevio’s regional snapshots and Svenska kraftnät’s reserved-connection tables are different operators and different dates. This article does not copy a widget cell from those pages into an E.ON map launch.

DataCenterSweden records 17 June 2025 as an E.ON Kapacitetskompassen launch. No project identifier is attached. The next update would need a later primary source that names a reserved E.ON offtake, a signed campus connection or a commissioned hall on the mapped grid. Until then, A–C stays a map class — not reserved campus capacity.

Why it matters

An open E.ON map that prints electricity-intensive demand is easy to file as spare campus power. The June launch is usable only if A–C stays a map class — not a reservation.

What remains unknown

The launch notice does not print a named datacentre applicant, a reserved hall megawatt or a signed E.ON offtake.
