Ellevio’s Värtan rebuild is the city’s largest station project, not reserved inner-city hall power

Ellevio’s Värtan project page, read with the 19 February 2026 annual report, says the Hjorthagen transmission station is the company’s largest station project and is planned in service in 2027. A 2027 station date is not reserved city-hall offtake.

Ellevio’s Värtan project page is the construction source used here. It says Värtan, in the Hjorthagen district, has been a hub in Stockholm’s electricity supply for more than a hundred years. The rebuild is written as Ellevio’s largest station project. Ground works started in May 2021. The new transmission station is to enter service during 2027. A 2027 in-service sentence is not reserved offtake.

The tunnel sentence must stay a tunnel sentence. A tunnel is being driven under station Värtan. Because of technical challenges the timetable has been shifted and the work is expected to continue into 2027. Those are construction facts. They are not a hall agreement.

The voltage sentence must stay a voltage sentence. The page says electricity arrives on transmission cables at 220 kV and is transformed to 110 kV and 33 kV. The new station is to stand on the same plot as the present one, built in and taking less ground. The contractors named are Linxon, with NCC as subcontractor. Those are design and contract rows. They are not reserved megawatts.

The year-end neighbour must stay a neighbour. Ellevio’s 2025 annual report, published 19 February 2026, repeats Värtan as the largest station project, to be ready in 2027, and records other 2025 Stockholm milestones on their own lines. Skanstull’s 2025 commissioning and the Akalla distribution station stay on their own files. This article does not import those rows into the Värtan rebuild.

DataCenterSweden records the Värtan page, read against the 19 February 2026 annual report, as an Ellevio Hjorthagen station-rebuild notice. No project identifier is attached. The next update would need a later primary source that names an energised 2027 station or a reserved city offtake tied to Värtan. Until then, 2027 stays a station date — not reserved inner-city hall capacity.

Why it matters

A billion-krona inner-city station headline is easy to file as spare Stockholm hall power. The Värtan papers are usable only if 2027 stays a station date — not a reservation.

What remains unknown

The pages do not commission the 2027 station or name a reserved consumption agreement at Värtan.
