EdgeConneX’s Skellefteå plan is a conditional campus entry, not a commissioned gigawatt hall

On 27 February 2026 EdgeConneX said it looks to expand into Sweden with a Skellefteå site to be acquired from Lyten, subject to administrative and regulatory processes, and with potential campus capacity of up to one gigawatt. A potential figure is not commissioned power.

EdgeConneX’s 27 February 2026 notice, dated Stockholm and Amsterdam, is the dated campus-entry source used here. It says the EQT portfolio company looks to expand with a new site in Skellefteå. The data-centre site will be acquired from Lyten, described as a lithium-sulfur battery and energy-storage company. A site to be acquired is not a closed land transfer on this page.

The condition sentence must stay a condition sentence. Subject to completion of applicable administrative and regulatory processes, EdgeConneX will look to develop a data-centre campus with potential capacity of up to one gigawatt for future AI and cloud workloads. Upon completion the campus would be among the largest facilities in Europe and would be primarily powered by renewable energy. Potential and would-be sentences stay potential. They are not a commissioned gigawatt.

Named voices stay named voices. EMEA managing director Dick Theunissen calls Sweden an attractive long-term market and says sustainability will inform planning as the project advances. EQT managing director Eirik Dahle Benzon frames the entry as EQT’s home market and looks ahead to work with EdgeConneX, Skellefteå Municipality and local stakeholders. Head of administration Kristina Sundin Jonsson welcomes EdgeConneX on the same operator page. Those are welcome-and-intention rows. They are not a building permit.

A one-gigawatt Skellefteå headline is easy to file as commissioned northern-hall power. The February notice is usable only if the conditions stay conditions.

The notice does not print a completed Lyten land closing, a granted building permit, a reserved offtake or a commissioned Skellefteå hall.
