SVT’s 9 September 2025 Östersund note is a discontinued establishment, not a hall

On 9 September 2025 SVT Jämtland reported that EcoDataCenter would not establish data halls in Östersund and would instead focus on Kvarnsveden outside Borlänge. The environmental permit stays with EcoDC Östersund AB. EcoDC Holding’s 2025 annual report says Östersund work was discontinued in autumn 2025. That is not Falun’s 41 MW.

SVT Nyheter Jämtland’s 9 September 2025 report is the dated municipal-exit source used here. It says EcoDataCenter has decided not to establish in Östersund. Plans for data halls there were presented in 2023. The company points to a sharply changed demand picture and says the time axis does not hold. A decision not to establish is not evidence that halls were built.

Infrastructure wording is the load-bearing reason in the SVT piece. There was no ready site with power already brought to Östersund, so EcoDataCenter chose to focus on Kvarnsveden outside Borlänge, where the infrastructure already exists. Focus on Kvarnsveden is a portfolio sentence. It does not move Falun’s commissioned megawatts to Jämtland, and it does not publish a Borlänge megawatt on this page.

The permit sentence must stay with the named company. SVT says it is unclear what now happens to the environmental permit granted for data halls in Verksmon. The permit follows the company that received it, EcoDC Östersund AB. A permit that stays with a company is not a construction start and not a megawatt. This register does not cite a municipal archive URL that returned nothing when fetched.

EcoDC Holding’s 2025 annual report, already stored in this register, is the matching operator paper. It says work in Östersund was discontinued in autumn 2025. Autumn 2025 and 9 September 2025 are the same season on two artefacts. They are not a Falun capacity change. Falun C and D, 41 MW, the later 65 MW wording and the 80 MW available-power sentence stay on their own rows.

DataCenterSweden records 9 September 2025 as a discontinued Swedish establishment notice. No project identifier is attached, because Östersund is not an active project in this register. The next update would need a later primary source that names a transfer, a lapse or a revival of the Verksmon permit. Until then, Östersund stays a stopped file beside Kvarnsveden and Falun.

Why it matters

A named Swedish operator leaving a municipality is easy to file as a cancelled megawatt or as extra Borlänge power. The September file is usable only if Östersund stays a stopped establishment — and if Falun’s 41 MW is not moved.

What remains unknown

Neither source publishes an Östersund megawatt, a measured construction start that occurred, or a later decision on the Verksmon permit.
