Exergi’s 12 March 2018 DigiPlex paper is a 5 MW heat retrofit, not a new hall

On 12 March 2018 Stockholm Exergi said DigiPlex would deliver 5 MW of heat, enough for 10,000 apartments. The cooperation is described as the first in the world where an operating hall that uses indirect air cooling is modified to supply surplus heat to the district-heating network. Five megawatts is heat, not IT, and not Conapto’s later Exergi row.

Stockholm Exergi’s Cision notice dated 12 March 2018 is the dated heat-retrofit source used here. Under the agreement DigiPlex will deliver 5 MW of heat, enough to heat 10,000 apartments, to Stockholm Exergi. Five megawatts is a heat figure. This article does not rewrite it as IT import.

The cooling sentence is the point of the paper. The cooperation is the first in the world where a data centre that is already in operation and uses an indirect air-cooling technique is modified so that surplus heat can be delivered to the district-heating network. Stockholm Data Parks’ same-day companion calls the cooling an indirect evaporative air-to-air solution being retrofitted. First and retrofit are 2018 issuer words. They are not a 2026 commissioning.

The city target stays a target. Exergi’s chief executive Anders Egelrud is quoted that the partnership is a step toward a goal that ten percent of Stockholm’s heating need should come from recovered data-centre heat. The Data Parks companion repeats that 10 percent objective and notes that close to ninety percent of buildings in Stockholm are connected to district heating. Ten percent is a 2018 objective. It is not the later Eurelectric 3.5 percent snapshot.

Named Stockholm heat rows stay on their own papers. Conapto’s later Open District Heating contracts, GlobalConnect’s southern Stockholm heat sentence and Glesys Falkenberg are different issuers and dates. This register keeps the 2018 issuer name DigiPlex. It does not rename the hall from a later market story.

DataCenterSweden records 12 March 2018 as a DigiPlex–Exergi heat-retrofit agreement of 5 MW. No project identifier is attached. The next update would need a later primary source that names a measured delivery or a successor operator paper for the same hall. Until then, 5 MW stays recovered heat from an operating air-cooled hall — not a new campus.

Why it matters

A 10,000-apartment heat headline is easy to file as a live 2026 hall. The 2018 paper is usable only if 5 MW stays recovered heat from an operating air-cooled retrofit.

What remains unknown

The notices do not publish a measured 2018 megawatt-hour or a later operator paper that renames the same hall in this register.
