atNorth and Vestforbrænding agree DEN01 heat for Ballerup homes; 2028 is the heat year

On 26 November 2025 atNorth said it had finalised an agreement with Vestforbrænding to use excess heat from DEN01 in Ballerup in the utility’s district-heating network. DEN01 is described as a 22.5 MW metro site due to be operational in the first quarter of 2026, with heat for over 8,000 local homes from 2028. A signed heat paper is not 2028 delivery, and Ballerup is not Ølgod or SWE04.

atNorth’s 26 November 2025 notice is the dated operator source used here. It says the company finalised an agreement with Vestforbrænding, described as Denmark’s largest waste-to-energy company, to use excess heat from the DEN01 campus within that district-heating network. Vestforbrænding’s own page repeats the Ballerup geography and the estimate of up to 8,000 households. Those are Danish offtake sentences. They are not a Swedish heat contract.

Two dates must stay on two lines. DEN01 is a 22.5 MW metro site due to be operational in the first quarter of 2026. The heat collaboration is to use warm water that is a by-product of direct liquid cooling to heat over 8,000 homes from 2028. Due and from are targets in a November 2025 paper. This register does not treat a later 2026 hall opening or a 2028 first heat season as documented. Twenty-two-and-a-half megawatts is announced metro-site power, not a delivered heat rating.

Vestforbrænding places the deal inside its District Heating Plan 2030 and describes a new low-temperature pipe that can take large volumes of data-centre surplus heat. The backbone of that pipe story, in the utility’s wording, is surplus heat from a forthcoming carbon-capture plant, with future data centres also to be connected. That is a Danish network-design sentence. It does not start a measured megawatt-hour row for DEN01.

Identity control matters because atNorth already has other Nordic names in this register. SWE02’s Stockholm Exergi enablement, SWE04’s Sollefteå heat intention, the 2 September 2026 list that names Ølgod, and the DEN01 Ballerup paper are different instruments. Ballerup is not Ølgod. Twenty-two-and-a-half megawatts is not SWE04’s 300 MW announcement. The notice also mentions separate heat collaborations for DEN02 with Wa3rm and for FIN02 with Kesko; those sentences are not this contract.

DataCenterSweden records 26 November 2025 as a Danish municipal-heat agreement for DEN01. No Swedish project identifier is attached. The 8,000-home figure stays labelled as an offtake illustration from 2028. The next update would need a later primary source that names actual heat delivery or a changed operating date.

Why it matters

A named Danish heat buyer is easy to fold into atNorth’s Swedish rows. The November paper is usable only if 22.5 MW, Q1 2026 and 2028 heat stay in Ballerup — and if Ølgod and SWE04 stay on their own pages.

What remains unknown

The November notices do not publish a 2026 operating certificate, a 2028 delivered megawatt-hour or a Swedish offtaker.
