Arelion’s 2 September 2025 Scandinavian upgrade is fibre in existing ducts, not a campus megawatt

On 2 September 2025 Arelion said it is installing high-fiber-count cables in existing ducts between Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen, with last-mile builds to hyperscale data centres, to be completed by 2026. A duct upgrade is not a hall and not the Helsinki–Warsaw ring.

Arelion’s 2 September 2025 notice is the dated fibre-backhaul source used here. It says Arelion is installing new high-fiber-count cables in existing ducts between Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen, and connecting hyperscale data centres with newly constructed last-mile infrastructure. The upgrade is to be completed by 2026, with further Scandinavian network investments planned through the rest of 2026 and into 2027. Completed by and planned are the issuer’s words. They are not a 2025 landing-station certificate.

The mesh sentence stays a mesh sentence. Arelion says it already operates terrestrial routes across Scandinavia with diverse access to 13 subsea cables connecting the Nordics and Baltics. Thirteen cables are a carrier-mesh claim. They are not a named Swedish beach landing for a hall in this register.

Consultant market sentences on the same page are not stored as megawatts here. Figures about Oslo capacity, Nordic annual additions, a construction-market dollar total or an AI compound growth rate are neighbouring brochure lines. They are not Arelion’s build metric and are not copied into this note.

Named Nordic fibre rows stay on their own papers. Arelion’s October 2025 Helsinki–Warsaw terrestrial ring, GlobalConnect’s 1,250 km backbone upgrade, the Sweden–Finland cable, C-Lion1, C-Lion2 and Polar Connect are different issuers and routes. Existing ducts between the three capitals do not become those files.

DataCenterSweden records 2 September 2025 as a Scandinavian duct-and-last-mile fibre upgrade due by 2026. No project identifier is attached. The next update would need a later Arelion paper that names a completed 2026 segment or a hall lateral. Until then, the upgrade stays fibre in existing ducts — not campus import.

Why it matters

A Scandinavian AI-fibre headline is easy to file as a new Nordic campus. The September notice is usable only if the build stays cables in existing ducts and consultant megawatts stay off the row.

What remains unknown

The notice does not name a completed 2026 land segment, a hall last-mile pin, or a data-center megawatt of its own.
